Principal's Corner (10/17/2021)

Good afternoon this is Emmet Alexander, principal of the Alamance Virtual School (AVS) with your update for the week.

North Carolina has an annual campaign to support college access during the month of October named NC Countdown to College.  We have activities during this month to support high school seniors in completing their residency requirements, FAFSA, and applications.  College Application Week is October 18-22.  Keep in mind, many NC colleges and universities waive their application fees this week.

Wednesday we have AIG (Academically and Intellectually Gifted) Testing @ Sellars Gunn beginning at 9 am.  Those of you who are testing have been contacted directly.

Thursday the Pre-ACT for 10th graders will be administered at Central Office beginning at 8 am.

Friday the Pre-ACT with accommodations will be administered at Sellars Gunn Education Center beginning at 8:15 am.

Keep in mind that the 9 weeks concludes on October 27th.  If you have missing assignments that should be turned in, time is passing.  It is our wish that everyone is successful; however, this only comes from the hard work and dedication exhibited by each student.

Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sincerely,

Emmet Alexander
