Board names principals, assistants

   Members of the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education appointed five assistant principals and two principals during a called meeting Tuesday.

   The appointments followed a closed session. Appointments include:

  • Brie Butler was hired as principal at Broadview Middle School. She’s a graduate of Elon University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree, and UNC Greensboro, where she earned her master’s. Since 2011 she has served as an assistant principal at Graham Middle School. Her annual salary is $71,714.20.

  • Greg Hook was hired as principal at Hawfields Middle School. He’s a graduate of N.C. State, where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Since 2005 he’s worked as an assistant principal at Southern Middle School. His annual salary is $71,714.20.

  • Anthony L. Baker was hired as assistant principal at Western Middle School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix. Since 2003 he’s worked as a teacher of exceptionally challenged children at Hillcrest Elementary. His annual salary is $55,127.05.

  • Kristen Gravely was hired as assistant principal at Graham High. She earned a bachelor’s degree at UNC Chapel Hill and a master’s degree at Elon University. From 2004 to 2012 she worked as a language arts teacher at Southern Alamance Middle and from 2012 to the present completed a Piedmont-Triad Leadership Association internship at Williams High School. Her annual salary is $56,313.77.

  • Thomas Kazimir was hired as assistant principal at Graham High. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. From 1998 to 2012, he was a social studies teacher at Eastern Alamance High School and in 2012-13 completed an assistant principal internship at Graham High. His annual salary is $54,539.32.

  • Karen Rudd Morris was hired as assistant principal at South Graham Elementary. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Carolina University. During the 2012-13 school year she was an assistant principal at Bethel School in Bethel and has experience with the Pitt County Schools in Greenville. Her annual salary will be $50,413.

  • Michael John Sasscer was hired as assistant principal at Smith Elementary. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNC Chapel Hill. He has completed a pair of principal internships with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. His annual salary will be $48,121.50.
