Pi Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The Pi Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated would like to invite seniors to apply for a scholastic scholarship to assist with the first year of their college education. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is the nations’ first Greek letter organization for college-educated African American women. The sorority has a long-standing tradition of recognizing academic achievements and encouraging young people to further their education by attending the nation’s colleges and universities. Pi Omicron Omega being a local chapter would like to continue in this tradition by providing scholarship moneys to students in the community it serves.
We are offering scholarships to qualified minority high school seniors in the amounts of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or five hundred dollars ($500.00). This opportunity will be available to students who plan to continue their education at a two or four-year college or university. Students in good standing at any of Alamance County’s high schools may apply for the scholarship. An eligible student in good standing will be able to document, on the scholarship application, achievement in academics, involvement in community service activities, leadership, and participation in extracurricular activities, exemplary character and financial need. Each applicant will also be required to submit a personal essay, an official high school transcript, and two (2) letters of recommendation with the scholarship application.
Scholarship applications and all supporting documents should be mailed to the address below and postmarked no later than Monday, May 7, 2019:

Scholarships will be used only to help defray the cost of educational expense at two- year or four-year colleges or universities. At the time of the school’s award day program, recipients will be given a copy of the check. The final scholarship award will be made under the following conditions: (1) Graduation in the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded and (2) Acceptance and documentation of registration in a two or four-year College or University for the academic year of 2019-2020. Scholarship awards will be forfeited if the above criteria are not met and will be awarded to other deserving applicants.
