Williams High School students will get some lessons on money management next month.
Staff from Gilliam Coble & Moser LLP will bring their personal finance program to students in Williams’ Academy of Finance from Dec. 3 through 11. In four classes, they will cover careers and college, budgeting and finance, saving and investing , and credit and risk management.
Manager Joy Klenke’s teaching of personal finance began as a hobby and community service, according to the firm’s website. She started volunteering in a friend’s classroom. Now she and retirement plan specialist Muzette Coffee lead GCM’s personal finance program.
They have presented the program to classrooms at Cummings High School and Elon Academy as well as Williams.
Williams is the only school in Alamance County that offers a National Academy Foundation-affiliated Academy of Finance.
The academy prepares students for post-secondary education in business-related majors as well as other courses of study that demand a strong academic foundation in math, social studies and writing.
