On Friday, student council members at Western Alamance High School will be raising money for school receptionist Deborah Drewis’ daughter. Heather Drewis, 25, got a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis two years ago. She has received successful treatment and still works with a dental practice, her mother said, but her medications have left her more than $14,000 in debt. Insurance is now covering her expenses, but the debt is still there.
Students will wear orange ribbons for MS awareness and take donations before and after school and during lunch.
