SOME LOCAL STUDENTS took home awards from the 2014 N.C. Science Fair at Meredith College in Raleigh.
Cody McMillan of Pleasant Grove Elementary School won the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences Young Naturalist Award for his project “Are There Bugs Under Your Feet?”
John Stanfi ll and Spencer W. Hood of The Burlington School took honorable mention in the elementary division.
Josh Casey of Eastern High School took third place in the Senior Earth/ Environmental division and second place in N.C. American Water Works for his project “Plankton Scrubbers.” He has been nominated to attend the GENIUS Olympiad competition in Oswego, N.Y.
Megan Miller of Western High School took second place in technology/ engineering division and the Meredith President’s Award with her project “Fuel Efficient Passive Flow Control for Class 8 Tractor Trailers.” She also is eligible to attend the I-SWEEEP, International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, Environment Project Olympiad, competition in Houston.
