MEBANE RECREATION EASTER ROCK HUNT

E.M. Yoder Elementary School third grader Nolan Tingen, age 8, wins the golden rock for his age group at last Wednesday’s Easter Rock Hunt in Mebane. The hunt goes back to 1972, sponsored each year by the Mebane Recreation and Parks Department with prizes and gift cards available for children. Tingen wins a $25 gift card to Walmart for finding the coveted prize, the only golden rock on the track field. He says he will spend the money buying toys for himself and giving toys to a childcare.

E.M. Yoder Elementary School kindergartener Olivia Sessoms, age 5, wins the golden rock for her age group at last Wednesday’s Easter Rock Hunt in Mebane. The hunt goes back to 1972, sponsored each year by the Mebane Recreation and Parks Department. Children that found the pink, blue, and golden-green rocks got prizes. The winner of the golden rock, here as with Sessoms, received a $25 gift card to Walmart. Sessoms said she wanted a bubble maker.
