Chelsea Elizabeth Miles, Alan and Sharon Miles’ only child, has received much support from her parents. She recognizes that they always want the best for her and that is exactly what she has given them in return.

Chelsea, a senior at Southern Alamance High School, has occupied a spot on the honor role since middle school by keeping her grades at a B or above. During her enrollment at Hawfields Middle School and again in high school, Chelsea maintained an impressive perfect attendance, as well.

Hard-working and dependable, this studious senior received numerous DOC (Demonstrating Outstanding Character) awards. These are just a few of the reasons her grandmother, Martha Miles, nominated Chelsea as February’s Student of the Month.

“Chelsea has always been a good student,” Martha Miles wrote.

Though considering herself to be shy, Chelsea volunteered to help the elderly during the Christmas season. She assisted people with their trips and in the care of their pets. Currently, Chelsea works with children at the child care center in Lee Brothers Academy, helping them with their homework or just entertaining them with games. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys many of the typical teenage hobbies such as hanging out with her friends and going to movies, especially horror films. “Netbook” and “The Devil Inside Me” are among her favorites. Following graduation from Southern, Chelsea plans to begin college at either Alamance Community College or Guilford Technical Community College. Despite the fact that English and Math are her favorite subjects, she hopes to study medicine. In the future, Chelsea would like to become an ultrasound technician. She had this piece of advice for teens: “Do the best that you can and never give up.”
