Davis Atwood Hawks, of Elon, has earned his Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America.    Hawks, 16, is the son of Melanie and Howard Hawks William and the grandson of Virginia Hawks, of Burlington, Dorothy Mills, of Morehead City, and James and Judy Sutton, of Kenansville.

He is a member of Troop 17, based at First Presbyterian Church in Burlington.

His Eagle badge was earned Oct. 10 and it was presented Dec. 11. For his Eagle project, he designed and built three large shelving units for golf and fishing equipment for the Alamance/Burlington Hospice League’s new Hospice Thrift Store. These were then stained, fitted with wheels and installed. Davis chose this project because of his interest in golf and desire to support such a worthwhile organization as Hospice.

He attended Williams High School in Burlington.
