Fourth-grade students in Laura Bivins’ class at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary School learned about economics while helping Christmas Cheer.
Bivins said students worked on flow charts to show how natural resources are made into products that can be sold around the world.
“They have also learned about scarcity, incentives, marketing and advertising propaganda,” she said. Students made necklaces and chocolate-covered pretzels and created ads for their products, which they sold for a $1 donation to raise money for Christmas Cheer to buy toys.
The effort raised $544 for the organization, which helps people in need during the holiday season.
