High school seniors get national honor

    Three seniors at Western Alamance High School and two seniors at Williams High School have been named Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

   Patrick Bell, John Baranik and Dante Frontani from Western, along with Marc Gutierrez and John Lindley from Williams, placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students competing in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.

   About 34,000 scholastically talented high school seniors from across the United States were recognized for their exceptional performance on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
