The North Graham Singing Dynamites will present their first public performance of the 2011-12 school year Monday during the Burlington Royals baseball team’s day game.

The group of year-round elementary students will sing the national anthem during pre-game ceremonies shortly before 11 a.m. and perform “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” later during the seventh-inning stretch.

The students are directed by Joy Rust, North Graham Elementary’s Teacher of the Year for 2010.

More than 30 North Graham students in grades three through five are part of the Dynamites. Students are required to make good grades and meet outside of school hours to practice singing and choreography.

 Performances of the Dynamites
also provide learning and cultural experiences for the students. Rust said the trip to the stadium would be a first for many in the group.

Also during the game, Principal Greg Holland will throw out the first pitch in recognition of North Graham being named a signature school by the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium.
