Elementary students to appear on PBS show The Times-News 4/18/12 Reprinted with permission.
Students from Smith Elementary School in Burlington will be on an episode of “Biz Kid$,” public television’s Emmy Award-winning financial literacy series.
The episode — titled “You Are the Target!” — features the school’s art contest, in which students created car decals called “wraps” while learning how to use art as a form of advertising.
A Biz Kid$ news release says the episode “helps children understand media manipulation and commercial messages.”
It is scheduled to air at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on UNC-TV’s kids’ channel, UNC-KD, and again on the same channel at 1:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Friday.
It is online at www.youtube.com. Search for “Biz Kid$ Episode 504 — Car Wrap Profile.”
A cameraman filmed at the school in September about the contest, which was held earlier that year. Filming also happened at The Decal Source, which owns the car decorated by the winning design. It was created by former Smith student Mary Boyd. She and her family have since moved.
