ELON — No need to leave your dancing shoes at home when you have the 1980s right around the corner. The Western Alamance High School’s drama department is proud to present this year’s spring musical, “Footloose.”
Based on the original 1980s movie, this musical centers around a high-schooled boy named Ren McCormack and his way of adjusting from the city life in Chicago to the Bible belt town of Bomont, where dancing has been outlawed.
Those unfamiliar with the production should not fret. Though there are some similarities between the movie and the show, there are many entertaining surprises that audiences familiar with the musical haven’t seen before. This family friendly musical is perfect for all ages and is sure to enthrall all with its energetic dancing, spectacular songs like fan favorites “Holding it out for a Hero” and the title song “Footloose.” Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Western Alamance High School, 1731 N.C. 87 North. Tickets are $10 per person.
