 The Alamance-Burlington School System has hired one of its own as the new director of teacher recruitment and induction — Donna Westbrooks. Westbrooks started with Burlington City Schools in 1986 as a math teacher at Cummings High School and most recently was an assistant principal at Hawfields Middle School.

 She earned a bachelor’s degree from Elon College in 1984 and a master’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005. Westbrooks will make $68,373 per year.

 THE ABSS MAINTANANCE department is promoting two of its managers to assistant directors.

 Jimmy Russell is now assistant maintenance director for new projects. He joined the department in 2013 as a construction project manager, and has held a N.C. general contractor license since 1990. Russell is a 1981 graduate of Western Alamance High School and studied business fundamentals, accounting and design at Alamance Community College. He will make $59,580 per year.

 Steve Williams is the new assistant maintenance director for facilities. Williams was an electrical foreman for ABSS beginning in 2008. He was a licensed electrical design and construction contractor going back to 1984 and worked for the city of Burlington for 12 years beginning in 1972. Williams graduated from Williams High School in 1969 and studied at East Carolina University and Elon College. He will make $66,770 per year.
