Eight Southern High FFA students named Certified Young Plant Professionals

Eight students in Southern Alamance High School’s FFA Horticulture program became Certified Young Plant Professionals in North Carolina. Shown from left, front row, are Nora Ferguson, Claire Blackwell, Haley Fogleman and in the back row are Davis Kappert, Carly Fuller, Prescott Kirkpatrick, Sarah Davis and Jacob Ray. The certification is administered by the N.C. Nursery and Landscape Association Inc. to recognize proficiency in the nursery workforce, distinguish young green industry professionals and provide the green industry with a means of identifying qualified young nursery professionals. Applicants must have completed, or be enrolled in, Horticulture II or equivalent classes. The exam involves writing and plant identification.
