District Athletic Director for Alamance-Burlington Schools Earns Distinguished Service Award
On September 24, George Robinson, Director of Athletics for Alamance-Burlington Schools, was honored with the Charlie Adams Distinguished Service Award for Region 5 of the North Carolina High School Athletics Association (NCHSAA).
The distinguished service award honors one individual annually in the region with at least 10 years’ experience in education and athletics, currently active in the field, and regularly goes "above and beyond" the call of duty at both the local and state level”.
George is an Alamance County native and a 1988 graduate of Walter Williams High School. He is a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and North Carolina Central University with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. In addition, Robinson earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro..
For nearly 23 years, Robinson has been employed with Burlington City Schools and Alamance-Burlington Schools. For 12 of those 23 years, Robinson was head coach of men's basketball at Hugh M. Cummings High, earning 5 state championships. Additionally, Robinson coached golf and football for the Cavaliers with another state championship earned in football.
