Thrill on wheels: Teacher wins new car

North Graham Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Kirstie Dixon honks the horn of her 2015 Dodge Dart that she won in the United Way of Alamance County’s Great Alamance Auto Giveaway on Thursday at the Children’s Museum of Alamance County in Graham. Dixon was one of 12 finalists in the annual contest and chose the Dodge Dart envelope, donated by Nichols Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Burlington, which was from a selection of cars from nine dealerships. There were 4,000 entries in the contest that raised $250,000 for the United Way of Alamance County. Dixon has not had a new car in 12 years, and after winning exclaimed, “Is this actually happening?”
