WESTERN ALAMANCE HIGH School’s NJROTC Orienteering Team competed in the 2016 North and South Carolina NJROTC Orienteering Championship in Mountain Rest, S.C. One hundred seventy cadets from 16 high schools competed in the race of navigational skills, quick decisions and physical speed.

Team Captain Yuuki Butler finished 10th out of 57 individual runners on the longest course. Cadet Jonathan Solorzano finished third out of 73 individual cadets on an intermediate course, won an individual medal and helped the team finish fourth place overall. Cadets Joseph Roy and Dominic Troche finished fifth and seventh respectively on the beginning course, helping their team finish third place overall.
