Closing the Gap Awards

Woodlawn Middle School students Malik Burnette, Nicohlas Blackwell, Brevory Foster, Noah Heath, Caleb Hester, Jesse Wells, Jordan Moore, Carlos Carpio Diaz, Fredy Morales, Marion Alston and John Austin were honored May 11 at the Alamance-Burlington Closing the Achievement Gap banquet at Occasions in Burlington. The awards recognize academic success, behavior and attendance. Eight students and their parents attended, the largest contingent there that night, according to school counselor Crystal Morrison Taylor. Blackwell, one of two students who spoke, told of his plans to be a doctor.
