Week 5: Spring Break
Posted by William Benson on 4/16/2020
Well, not for everyone – our Child Nutrition and Transportation staff continue to support our students with meals – for which we are all thankful. But there is also other work underway to better position ABSS for the future, particularly in the management of resources – financial and personnel.
Our folks in finance are working on the implementation of a new enterprise resource planning system (ERP). ERPs are integrated platforms that seamlessly connect all of the business functions of an organization, the implementation of which is one of the most complicated transitions an organization can undertake. Our new ERP platform, Munis, is designed specifically to help school districts handle financial and personnel operations with increased accuracy, transparency, and efficiency. Financial and human capital management are cornerstone functions. Areas of additional enhancement include bid management, project management, and a self-service portal for vendors. The system also provides a platform for dynamic workflow in a paperless environment.
Finance uploaded our new chart of accounts this week – 48,000 accounts – a first and critical step in the planned go-live for financials scheduled for March, 2021. Payroll and HR, which includes employee recruitment and development, are scheduled to go-live in July, 2021.
We have a great team doing a great job!
