I had great visits at four schools yesterday and saw lots of incredible teaching and learning, but something really caught my ear at R. Homer Andrews Elementary School – the sound of a ukulele (actually, a room full of ukuleles). I visited a music class where students were learning strum patterns on ukuleles. The ukulele is a perfect instrument for music education. It is relatively inexpensive, a solo and ensemble instrument, versatile, and fun – AND you can sing and play at the same time (Sorry, recorder)! Great job, Mr. Bohinski!!
