Williams High School Student Council members hosted the N.C. Association of Student Council’s Central District Conference on Saturday, Oct. 27. Williams senior Alex Pardue is the Central District chair of the NCASC. Nearly 300 middle and high school students from 32 schools across the state attended. U.S. Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., spoke about leadership before answering questions from students. After three rounds of student-led workshops, N.C. Sen. Rick Gunn, R-24th, spoke to the delegates about the power of youth involvement. The delegates then made blankets to donate to Victory Junction, a nonprofit that helps children suffering from serious illnesses go camping at no cost.
