Sylvan's Artist in Residency By Jessica Williams, The Times-News 11/14/18 Reprinted with permission.
Sylvan Elementary School, which is an A+ Arts school, completed its first Artist in Residency for 2018–2019. Puppeteer Donovan Zimmerman of PaperHand Puppet Intervention worked with fourth- and fifth-grade students for one week, providing demonstrations, helping with puppet art projects and giving a schoolwide performance that allowed students to flex their new skills. Sylvan isn’t the only school to have this experience. In September, second- through fifth-graders at North Graham Elementary — a fellow A+ Arts school — were treated to a series of workshops with puppet master Hobey Ford.
