SAHS FFA excels nationally

Southern Alamance High School’s FFA teams gained recognition as well as scholarships at the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo, held Oct. 24–27 in Indianapolis.

The Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event Team earned its sixth national championship, and had the three top scoring individuals in the nation: Rhett Pasour, first; Lizzie Foushee, second; and David Newlin, third. Spencer Huffines earned Gold status.

Each member of the Nursery Landscape team received a $1,000 scholarship.

The Floriculture Career Development Event Team placed second in the nation. Nick Newlin placed first in the nation and received a $1,000 scholarship. Hannah Clanton placed fifth in the nation and received a $700 scholarship. Ryan Jarrett placed 12th in the nation and received a $400 scholarship. Taylor DiLello earned Silver status.
