Ray Street Update By Jessica Williams, The Times-News 3/20/19 Reprinted with permission.
Ray Street Academy has had an eventful March. Elementary and middle school students in the Turning Point program put on a Black History Wax Museum by researching notable African-American figures in history, designing costumes, writing speeches, making poster boards and performing for ABSS staff and parents. Students in all grade levels received complimentary haircuts — and some important life advice — from Michael Vanhook, owner of Crazi Cutz Barbershop on Trollinger Street in Burlington. Curtis White, behavioral support for Ray Street and Turning Point, helped organize the event.
