Western Alamance Middle School English as a Second Language students created their own community service project. The 17-student team put together 180 Easter baskets filled with stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons, a spring stamp and Play-Doh to deliver to kids at Duke Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House in Durham before spring break. The students hosted a $1 hat day, which brought in $320, and a stuffed animal drive to make the project possible, collecting far more stuffed animals than they needed. The remainder will go to other children at Duke Children’s Hospital.
