Turrentine Middle School’s Battle of the Books team won the state championship for the second year in a row on May 10. The 10-member team, led by Turrentine Media Specialist Say Sink, read each of the 27 books on the battle list at least three times each. Some read them as many as 11 times in order to be able to answer questions. The books are selected to help students improve reading skills and become comfortable reading more mature material. The team was honored at the Tuesday, May 21, meeting of the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education.
