I am ready to work together as a TEAM during the 2023-2024 school year at Garrett Elementary! I can't wait for our all star-students to return after this less-than optimal start of the school year. We have missed all of the students so much! Over the past years I have enjoyed watching the students grow and learn each and every day! I have worked on developing relationships with the Garrett families and seen many Gators leave and new Gators arrive at the swamp. Our teachers, faculty, parents, PTO members, community members, students, and administration are all valuable stakeholders in the Garrett family. I truly believe that if we ALL work hard together as a TEAM we can help to ensure that each and every students reaches their fullest potential each and every day. We have a committed TEAM of dedicated school staff where everyone on TEAM GATORS works together for the benefit of the students. We hope that you will join in and continue to help us strive to offer every opportunity to all the students at Garrett.

Ms. O’Neal

Where was Ms. O’Neal before she came to Garrett? I began my educational career after earning my Elementary Education degree from Mars Hill College in the mountains of North Carolina. I taught in Person County before I decided to leave the classroom to begin my administrative career by interning with Durham Public Schools. After completing my Masters in School Administration from North Carolina Central University I moved to Catawba County where I served as an assistant principal. After making a decision to move back to my home town, I found my new home here at Garrett Elementary.

I am extremely proud to be a active TEAM member here at Garrett and as a Gator I will continue to work hard ensuring that every child has the best educational experience that he or she possibly can have. We hope that you and your child will become part of our TEAM by being actively involved throughout the school year by attending parent conferences, PTO events, MTSS parent meetings, volunteering in the classroom, helping in the lunchroom during duty free lunches, checking your child's bookbag nightly, and working with your child at home. The Garrett faculty works closely as a TEAM to help meet the diverse individual needs of all our students on TEAM GATORS each and every day. We hope that you will find your child as a part of our school TEAM will shine and enjoy his/her educational experience here at Garrett Elementary School.
