The House System

Last year, Haw River Elementary initiated the House System. The House System is a way to connect students and staff across grade levels, to help form personal connections and relationships, and to strengthen our school culture.  It is a means by which to engage all in an active community. Everyone will find an immediate identity and point of connection by being a member of a house. 

Our school is divided into 4 houses.  Each house, designed by the staff at HRE, has its own name, color, element/symbol, motto, and key value.  Once students and staff are sorted into their houses, they remain in that house for the remainder of their time at HRE. This year, students will be sorted in a special ceremony on Friday, September 15th!

Students will be awarded points throughout this school year to recognize positive behavior and achievements! Points can also be earned on special occasions such as spirit days, where students will dress up in their house color.  All staff members can give out points.  The RCA app lets Parents view their student’s points and which house is leading.  Here is a quick parent tutorial introducing the app. The HOUSE CUP  will be awarded the last week of school to the house with the most cumulative points!

We are excited to continue our House System this year with a new outlook on reinforcing positive behavior, growth, and the importance of community with our Lion Cub Leaders!
