The House System
Haw River Elementary will continue using the House System along with ClassDojo. The House System is a way to connect students and staff across grade levels, to help form personal connections and relationships, and to strengthen our school culture. It is a means by which to engage all in an active community. Everyone will find an immediate identity and point of connection by being a member of a house.
Class Dojo helps teachers and families collaborate to support our students.
Our school is divided into 4 houses. Each house, designed by the staff at HRE, has its own name, color, element/symbol, motto, and key value. Once students and staff are sorted into their houses, they remain in that house for the remainder of their time at HRE. This year, students in Kindergarten will be sorted in a special ceremony in September!
Students will be awarded points throughout this school year to recognize positive behavior and achievements! Points can also be earned on special occasions such as spirit days, where students will dress up in their house color. All staff members can give out points. The HOUSE CUP will be awarded the last week of school to the house with the most cumulative points!
We are excited to continue our House System this year with a new outlook on reinforcing positive behavior, growth, and the importance of community with our Lion Cub Leaders!
