Ashton Albright | Jazz Club | Patriot Time | Twice a Week | Jazz Club is offered to students who are enrolled in at least one instrumental music class in the academic year.(Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble). We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Fall semester during Patriot Time. Students who participate must be able to meet occasionally after school for practice and must attend the Winter Concert in December. |

Amber Peeden | National Honor Society for Dance Arts | Patriot Time | Weekly | NHSDA enhances quality dance education and recognizes students for their outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in the field of dance. Induction into the NHSDA Secondary Program is earned through the accumulation of at least 30 points awarded for dance and community service activities. Induction requirements also include an overall GPA of 3.0 unweighted and active involvement in the SAHS dance department. At Southern, NHSDA meets weekly and focuses on community service activities. |

Kyle Rother and Rachel Johnston | Speech and Debate | Patriot Time | Monthly | Each month, students will take a position on a contemporary issue, research said issue, and prepare for a short, semi-formal debate with and against their peers. Students will need to prepare an opening statement and plan for counter-arguments, all while appropriately and respectfully engaging in a dialogue with someone of the opposite stance. No experience needed and all are welcome! |
