Gizmos is an interactive, inquiry-based STEM and Science simulation program designed to engage students in science. It allows students to explore concepts, analyze data, and dive deeper into topics that might not be possible in a traditional science classroom. We use Gizmos in grades 5-12 here in ABSS.

Under Mr. Miller's guidance, the 7th and 8th graders in Southern Alamance Middle School CTE Education Technology classes combined woodworking, CAD design, craftsmanship, and math to create awesome cornhole boards, cutting boards, model bridges, and sheds! 🛠️
Through this hands-on experience, the students acquired valuable skills like:
🪚 Woodworking basics: Material selection, cutting techniques, joinery, sanding & finishing
💻 CNC router operation: CAD design, carving intricate designs, precision & calibration
🎨 Artistic skills: Design aesthetics, image carving, working with colors & textures
🧩 Problem-solving & adaptability: Troubleshooting challenges, adapting to variations
⚠️ Safety awareness: Proper tool usage, wearing protective gear
Experiences like these provide an excellent foundation for future careers in manufacturing, engineering, and the skilled trades!

Our Southern Alamance Middle School and Southern Alamance High School Hunter Safety teams had an outstanding showing at the recent district tournaments!
Middle School:
🥇 The team took 1st place overall, winning rifle and hunter skills! They were runners-up in archery and shotgun.

High School:
🥈 The FFA Red team placed 2nd overall, winning archery! They were also runners-up in rifle and hunter skills.

💪The FFA Blue team took 8th overall and is gearing up for the state tournament in April!
