Thank you to all our students, teachers, and parents for working together this week during remote learning. Tomorrow, Friday, January 30, will be an Optional Workday. That means there will be no remote learning for students tomorrow. We’re doing this so we can save our very last remote learning day for any future weather events. There will be no athletic or after-school activities tomorrow. Friday, February 13th will now be a regular school day for students instead of a teacher workday. We appreciate you being so flexible and for making this week a success. Enjoy the long weekend, and we hope to see everyone back soon! Thank you, and stay safe.

Due to continued hazardous road conditions, we will transition to a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, January 27. This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students and staff. Students should work on their remote learning assignments. No athletics or afterschool activities. Remote Learning Days are flexible school days where students work at their own pace on posted assignments, also known as asynchronous work. While there are no required live classes, teachers are available during optional office hours if students have questions. Students are expected to complete all activities and reach out to their teachers if they need assistance. Work is due within five days of returning to school. View/Download our Remote Learning Guide here:

We are closely monitoring the incoming winter weather. Students are bringing learning packets home today for potential remote instruction. If power outages occur, we may move to a full closure instead. Safety is our priority! Watch for updates via call, text, email, social media, and posted on our website.

Due to the forecast of below-freezing temperatures accompanied by precipitation, ABSS will be closed for all students and staff tomorrow, Friday, December 5th. This includes all after-school activities. We have made this decision out of caution to ensure the safety of our school community.

Incredible news for our students! Tanger Outlets, Mebane presented four grants to our schools this week. Take a look at these transformative school projects:
🌟 Denise Bungardy (Elon Elementary) - A $1,285 sensory room featuring specialized equipment like bubble tubes, weighted blankets, and sound machines to help students with autism and sensory needs better regulate themselves and engage in learning. The room will provide vestibular, tactile, visual, and auditory input in a safe space.
🌟 Loretta Atkins (North Graham/South Mebane Elementary) - A $2,373 project replacing worn playground equipment with 25 new commercial-grade swings, ensuring all K-5 students at both schools can safely enjoy active play. These schools serve a combined total of 25 swings between them.
🌟 Chanel Jones (Broadview Middle) - A $2,500 classroom laundry initiative providing students with access to washers, dryers, and supplies while teaching essential life skills. The program includes a confidential service system and life skills curriculum about laundry care and time management.
🌟 Amy Chinnici (Sellars Gunn Education Center) - A $500 'TOUCH of Literacy' project creating multi-sensory storybook kits with tactile objects to help visually impaired students better understand and engage with literature. The project will develop 10 specialized learning kits this school year.
Thank you Tanger Outlets for investing in innovative solutions that support student success across our district!

These 7th & 8th graders are showcasing their talents by combining woodworking, CAD design, craftsmanship, and math to create stunning projects like laser-etched cutting boards and picnic tables. From digital design to hands-on construction, these students, under the guidance of Mr. Miller, are mastering valuable trade skills every step of the way. Now that's what we call building success! ✨ #ABSSCTE #StudentCenteredFutureFocused
