Due to continued hazardous road conditions, we will transition to a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, January 27. This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students and staff. Students should work on their remote learning assignments. No athletics or afterschool activities. Remote Learning Days are flexible school days where students work at their own pace on posted assignments, also known as asynchronous work. While there are no required live classes, teachers are available during optional office hours if students have questions. Students are expected to complete all activities and reach out to their teachers if they need assistance. Work is due within five days of returning to school. View/Download our Remote Learning Guide here: https://5il.co/3tij1

We are closely monitoring the incoming winter weather. Students are bringing learning packets home today for potential remote instruction. If power outages occur, we may move to a full closure instead. Safety is our priority! Watch for updates via call, text, email, social media, and posted on our website.

Due to the forecast of below-freezing temperatures accompanied by precipitation, ABSS will be closed for all students and staff tomorrow, Friday, December 5th. This includes all after-school activities. We have made this decision out of caution to ensure the safety of our school community.

The Hawfields Middle School AYLA (Alamance Youth Leadership Academy) Cohort has demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service through their recent Give a Kid a Coat clothing drive. From December 5-20, students collected 1,252 clothing items, including coats, pants, shirts, and other essential apparel. This represents a remarkable increase from last year's collection of 99 items! AYLA students took initiative in promoting the drive, creating promotional materials and encouraging participation throughout the school community. The collected clothing items will be distributed to support students at Hawfields Middle School, Garrett Elementary, Alexander Wilson Elementary, and Southeast Middle School. Special thanks to the AYLA students for their outstanding effort, to Social Studies teacher and AYLA leader Ryan Leonard for his guidance, and to all the families, staff, and community members who donated clothing items. Their collective efforts will help meet the clothing needs of our students this winter and beyond!
