Superintendent's Award of Excellence with photos of Andrew Partain & Colby Sumner

The Alamance Virtual School is pleased to announce the AVS recipients of the 2004 Superintendent's Award for Excellence. The AVS Seniors being recognized are Andrew Partain and Colby Sumner.

The objective of the Excellence Awards is to identify and recognize students who exemplify the concept of “an involved, scholarly citizen” and who have achieved excellence in a four-year high school career in the areas of scholarship, citizenship, and involvement.

  • Scholarship includes all courses taken during a four-year high school career, grades nine through twelve, to include vocational education, music, art, physical education, as well as the “academic” courses.

  • Citizenship includes participation both in school and the community at large to include such traits as dependability, character and reputation of the pupil, honesty, reliability, integrity, and concern for others.

  • Involvement includes all aspects of school activities, to include clubs,bands/choral activities, athletics, student government, work experience, or volunteer service. Membership in an organization does not necessarily equate to true involvement.

Congratulations Andrew and Colby!
