In anticipation of inclement weather conditions, ABSS will operate on a three-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, December 9. This means bus routes will also be delayed by three hours.
We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the county overnight and early morning to determine if a full closure is necessary.
The delay will allow for more daylight as everyone begins traveling in the morning. Staff and families are urged to use caution and give themselves extra time to get to school and work in the morning.

Due to a hazardous weather outlook and winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service for our area, Alamance-Burlington School System will be closed for all students and staff on Monday, December 8, 2025.
This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students and staff, and there will be no after school activities. Forecasts show a rain and snow mix beginning mid-morning, transitioning to all snow early afternoon.
We tracked the weather overnight, hoping to avoid a closure and preserve instructional time with our students. We understand that late calls are hard on everyone, and thank you for your understanding.
Thank you, and please stay safe!

What an incredible week for our Alamance Virtual School middle schoolers! From November 10-14, Ms. Tonya Dobson's science class had the adventure of a lifetime at Yellowstone National Park. Students learned directly from experts—renowned wolf observer Rick McIntyre, wolf researcher Taylor Rabe, Yellowstone Forever's field education manager Sam Archibald, and guide Melissa Dowland—exploring everything from wildlife and plants to the park's stunning geological and geothermal features. And as if that wasn't enough, they even witnessed the Northern Lights!

As we continue into the school year, we're excited to look back at the amazing progress during the first nine weeks! Our Progress Report Video highlights three key areas:
📵 Cell phone-free classrooms leading to greater student connection and engagement.
🤝 Strong relationships that are building confident learners.
💡 Data-driven, standards-aligned instruction challenging and supporting every student.
We're proud of this progress and encourage you to keep the conversation going at home! Ask your student about what they're learning class and connections at school. Thank you for being a vital part of the #ABSSCommunity!
