Thank you to all our students, teachers, and parents for working together this week during remote learning. Tomorrow, Friday, January 30, will be an Optional Workday. That means there will be no remote learning for students tomorrow. We’re doing this so we can save our very last remote learning day for any future weather events. There will be no athletic or after-school activities tomorrow. Friday, February 13th will now be a regular school day for students instead of a teacher workday. Due to continued hazardous road conditions, we will transition to a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, January 27. This means all schools and facilities will be closed for students and staff. Students should work on their remote learning assignments. No athletics or afterschool activities. Remote Learning Days are flexible school days where students work at their own pace on posted assignments, also known as asynchronous work. While there are no required live classes, teachers are available during optional office hours if students have questions. Students are expected to complete all activities and reach out to their teachers if they need assistance. Work is due within five days of returning to school. At this time, there has been no announcement regarding school closures within ABSS. However, if a closure does occur, Broadview Middle School is prepared to transition smoothly. In that event, families will have access to the remote learning packets, a schedule outlining virtual availability for teachers to answer questions regarding the learning packets, and links to virtual classrooms for additional support.

Today, Broadview Middle School proudly celebrated our A/B Honor Roll students with a special trip to Elon University! Our students enjoyed touring the beautiful campus and learning more about college life and future opportunities.

Due to the forecast of below-freezing temperatures accompanied by precipitation, ABSS will be closed for all students and staff tomorrow, Friday, December 5th. This includes all after-school activities. We have made this decision out of caution to ensure the safety of our school community.
During Monday's Board of Education meeting, the 2026-2027 academic calendar's latest draft was unanimously approved. The updated version moves required workdays to Monday or Friday. "Greetings! I’m Mr. Jamari Williams, and I am absolutely honored to be joining the amazing music community at Broadview Middle School and Hugh M. Cummings High School as your new Director of Bands! I can’t wait to get started and work with all of the talented students here to create something special together.
Originally from Goldsboro, NC, I’m a proud graduate of Thee Elizabeth City State University, where I earned my B.A. in Music Education. Trumpet is my primary instrument, and I’ve had the privilege of performing in a variety of ensembles throughout my time at ECSU, including The Sound of Class Marching Band, the ECSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble. I’m also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
Being a part of the ABSS family is truly an honor, and I’m excited for the hard work, growth, and musical achievements ahead. Let’s make this year unforgettable!"
