Important information for the 26-27 School Year
Student safety is always a top priority; therefore, we will be implementing the OpenGate® Weapons Detection Systems at CTEC when school resumes in August.
These advanced walk-through systems rapidly scan for dangerous and prohibited items as students and visitors enter, providing a quick and unobtrusive screening process that supports a safe learning environment. Students will need to go through them upon arrival each day.
The video linked below is a demonstration of how the system works, and it is the same system we will be using.
To help ensure that students will be able to quickly pass through the system in the mornings, please take a few minutes to review the list below. Students will have to remove these items from their book bag prior to walking through the system:
· Laptops
· Tablets
· 3-Ring Binders
· Metal Spiral Notebooks
· Metal Lunchboxes
· Metal Water bottles
· Umbrellas
· Eyeglass cases
Students should not bring eyelash curlers, curling irons or straightening irons to school.
Chargers, cell phones and small pouches should remain in bookbags. Students' binders and spiral notebooks will be flipped through by staff and any bag that signals the system will be checked by the staff at CTEC.
Please take a minute to review the information on the district's webpage: Weapons Detection Systems | Alamance-Burlington School System.
If you have any questions or concerns, then please reach out to Principal Mills: Kristy_Mills@abss.k12.nc.us.
