Good evening Eagle Families,

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.  We maintained our overall attendance rate at 91.3%.  Seniors continue to lead the way with an impressive 93.3%.  Please continue to talk to your students about the importance of being in each class.  Tardies to first period still make up the bulk of our tardies for the week.

This week is school spirit week sponsored by the BSU.  The themes for each day are listed below.

Monday: Sunday’s Best

Tuesday: Teacher Tuesday (dress like your favorite teacher)

Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Day

Thursday: Throwback Thursday

Friday: HBCU/College Day

On Tuesday, all juniors will take the state required ACT.  There will be no EAgle time on this day.  Please make sure you sign up for EAgle time sessions on all the other days.

Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of almost $7000.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/  You can add money to your student’s lunch account online, by clicking this link.  Students who have large outstanding lunch balances may not be able to participate in extracurricular activities.

Good luck to our Men’s and Women’s basketball teams as they begin the state playoffs on Tuesday!  The Women’s team will play at home against Currituck with the tipoff at 5:30.  The Men’s team will travel to Hunt High School to play with their tipoff at 6:00.

We are also excited to kick off Spring sports this week.

Our Dance Team is headed to Nationals in just a little over a week.  You are invited to preview their routines for free next Sunday at 6:00 in the EA auditorium.

A special thank you to our bus drivers who work tirelessly to get our students to and from school on time each day.

The outdoor picnic/patio area will remain closed this week.  All students are expected to remain inside the cafeteria during their scheduled lunch.

As a reminder, Ms. Cushman and Ms. Johnson will be coming to all ELA and SS classes to ensure that students are registered for classes next year.  If you do not have a SS or ELA class this semester they will be reaching out to schedule a meeting with you.

Any 10th-12th grader interested in being a Senate Page between April 29 - June 27, 2024 should click here for more information.

We will be administering the ASVAB test on Friday, February 29th to any 10th-12th grader who is interested.  This is a great test for those planning to go into the military or who aren’t sure what they would like to do.  Please use this link to sign up.

If you are interested, please fill out this form to receive emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.
