Cartoon Eagle Head in white, green, and gold facing to the right

Good evening Eagle Families,

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.  I hope that each of you took a moment this weekend to do something you enjoy.  Our overall attendance rate fell a little bit this week to 90.1%.  Seniors are still leading the way with a 93.3% attendance rate.  Please continue to talk to your students about the importance of being in each class as well as EAgle time.

This week is National Social Workers Week.  Please join me in thanking Ms. Hicks for all that she does for our students.

There are only a few more weeks left in the 3rd 9 weeks.  Please take a minute to check your child’s grades online.  The third quarter grading period will count 40% of your child’s final grade in the course.  If you have any questions then please contact your child’s teacher.

We have begun Saturday school and Evening Academy.  For more information on Saturday school, please reach out to Mr. Hemminger at william_hemminger@abss.k12.nc.us.  For more information on Evening Academy, please reach out to Coach Walker at parrish_walker@abss.k12.nc.us.

There is an interest meeting on Monday, March 4 at 6:00 for all students interested in being on the cheerleading team next school year.  The meeting will take place in the auditorium.

Juniors, thank you for showing up to take the ACT last week.  We hit our attendance goal!

Congratulations to Mary Long and Noah Vonglakhone-Heflin for auditioning to be a part of the All-State band this weekend!

Our Dance Team is headed to Nationals at the end of this week.  You are invited to preview their routines for free tonight at 6:00 in the EA auditorium.

Congratulations to our Basketball teams on great seasons!

Tuesday, March 5th is a teacher workday.  There will be no school for students on this day.

Tomorrow we will hold our annual tornado drill.

Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of almost $7000.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/  You can add money to your student’s lunch account online, by clicking this link.  Students who have large outstanding lunch balances may not be able to participate in extracurricular activities.

The outdoor picnic/patio area will remain closed this week.  All students are expected to remain inside the cafeteria during their scheduled lunch.

As a reminder, Ms. Cushman and Ms. Johnson will be coming to all ELA and SS classes to ensure that students are registered for classes next year.  If you do not have a SS or ELA class this semester they will be reaching out to schedule a meeting with you.

Any 10th-12th grader interested in being a Senate Page between April 29 - June 27, 2024 should click here for more information.

If you are interested, please fill out this form to receive emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.
