Cartoon Eagle head facing to the right

Good evening Eagle Families,

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.  I hope that you had the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic weather this weekend.  Our overall attendance rate is 89.9%.  Your student must be at school to be successful.   First period tardies made up about 60% of our overall tardies last 9 weeks.  Please help us stress to them the importance of being at school and in class on time unless they are sick.

Parents, you should have received a link to the 3rd quarter report card last Wednesday.  If you did not, please reach out to our data manager, Ms. Copeland, at kristin_sykescopeland@abss.k12.nc.us.

Tomorrow is Purple Up Day.  Please join us in wearing purple to support our military families.

We will be holding Saturday School and Evening Academy throughout the final 9 weeks.  Please reach out to Mr. Hemminger at william_hemminger@abss.k12.nc.us in regards to Saturday school and Coach Walker at parrish_walker@abss.k12.nc.us for Evening Academy.

Saturday, May 4 will be a night “Reflected in the Stars” with Prom 2024 for all Juniors and Seniors. The star-studded event will take place at the Mebane Arts Center from 8-11 pm. Get a prom form from Ms. Cannell in room S1. Once turned in, you’ll get a code to buy tickets through GoFan. Tickets are now $45 each.  No tickets will be sold after April 26, so don’t miss out!

Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $6400.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/  You can add money to your student’s lunch account online, by clicking this link.  Students who have large outstanding lunch balances may not be able to participate in extracurricular activities.

The outdoor picnic/patio area will remain closed this week.  All students are expected to remain inside the cafeteria during their scheduled lunch.

If you are interested, please fill out this form to receive emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.
