Good morning,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates. We had a great first week back at school! I hope that everyone had a great 3 day weekend.
EAgle Time:
On Tuesday, students will report to homeroom to learn about EAgle time. EAgle Time begins on Wednesday. It is a 30 minute enrichment/intervention period that is built into our school day to provide timely and systemic support for our students. Opportunities for support are provided in every class. In addition students have the opportunity to attend clubs and/or study hall. Students will be assigned to an EAgle Time session if their teachers feel they need some extra support. To learn more about EAgle Time and the opportunities offered check out this presentation.
Student Sign-out:
If you need to sign your student out early, please send an email to eahcheckout@abss.k12.nc.us. This email will go to all staff in our main office. The email must come from an email address that we have on file in IC.
PSAT:
The PSAT is open to any Sophomore or Junior who registers and pays for the test. This is an optional test and you must pay the test fee of $18. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is good practice for the SAT. Juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other program entry requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide will enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The test will take place on October 14, 2025. The deadline for registering is Tuesday, September 9 and payment is due Friday, September 12. To register, fill out this google form. We will use this to stay in contact with you regarding the location of the test and other details.
Breakfast/Lunch:
Great news! Eastern students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch. If you wish to purchase additional items, please make sure that you have money in your account.
Bus Information:
Students who are planning to ride the bus to or from school can find their bus number as well as pickup/drop off times here. This sheet must be accessed from the student’s ABSS google account. Students should be at their bus stop 15 minutes prior to their scheduled stop time. Please wait 20 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time before calling the school. In order to ride a bus, you must have a bus transportation request on file. If your address or pick-up location is not listed on a bus route, you will need to complete a bus request by contacting Ms. Pimanis (tammera_pimanis@abss.k12.nc.us).
Car Rider Information:
Please review the diagram below in order to familiarize yourself with our morning/afternoon traffic pattern. All traffic will have to turn left onto Mebane Rogers Rd between 3:45 and 3:55 each day.
Cell Phone and Wireless Communication Device Procedures:
As you know earlier this summer Governor Josh Stein signed House Bill 959 which bans cell phones in classrooms. With the addition of this law, we had to review and revise our current wireless communication procedures. Please take time to review the entire wireless communication procedures that will be in place at all ABSS High Schools this year. It is important that students and parents are aware of the procedures and consequences.
A few things to note regarding our new procedures.
All students will be asked to turn their cell phone off and put it into a collection area in the classroom until the end of class.
Students are no longer allowed to use wireless headphones in class. All headphones need to be wired.
Students will be allowed to have their wireless devices at lunch and during transitions between classes.
We know this will be an adjustment for all students and parents, but we appreciate your help and support as we work to follow this law and to reduce the amount of distractions in our classrooms.
Seniors:
We will hold Senior Parent night on September 16th at 6:00 pm in the media center. This is a time for parents to learn about college, scholarships, FAFSA, and more!
Student/Parent Handbook:
Please take time to review the student/parent handbook. It can be found here.
Back To School Forms:
Parents, have you created your Infinite Campus Account? If not, check your email. More information about Infinite Campus as well as a link to download the app can be found here.
Chromebooks:
Students who do not have chromebooks yet, will be able to get them in the EAHS library. This year, we are offering families the opportunity to purchase optional insurance for their student(s) chromebook. The cost of the optional insurance is $25. This premium is good for one instance of unintentional breakage (lost or intentional damage is not covered) and will help protect you from higher cost. You may elect when to apply your premium. Once used, the family would have the option to replace the optional insurance premium for an additional $25. For more details, including a list of part replacement costs, click here for the Mobile Learning Handbook. You may use this link to purchase the optional insurance.
Athletic Passes:
Yearly Athletic Passes are on sale now! This pass gets you into all home athletic contests for the upcoming school year. Fill out this form to get started.

Campus Update:
Thanks to our County Commissioners, School Board, and Central Office, we are getting new roofs on our main buildings along with updated heating and air in most buildings. We are very excited about these updates. Construction crews have been working since school got out however, not all of the work will be completed by the time that school starts. We ask for your patience as the crews continue to work to make these much needed and welcomed improvements.
Parking Passes:
All students who park on campus must have a valid parking pass. Please use this link to purchase a pass. Students who park on campus without a pass are subject to having their car towed at the owner’s expense. All other school fees/fines must be paid in order for you to be able to purchase a parking pass.
There will no longer be a designated lot based on your grade level. You will select your parking location. Parking passes/spots will be given out on a first come first serve basis during the designated times below.
