Cartoon Eagle head facing to the right

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.   First, we would like to say thank you to all the veterans who have selflessly served our nation.

Congratulations to our football team who beat Fike Friday night to advance in the NCHSAA 5A championship!  This Friday night they travel to Wilson, NC to take on Hunt.

Congratulations to all of our students who earned a place on the A or A/B honor roll for the 1st quarter.  For complete lists check out our social media pages.

Attendance Matters:

Thank you to our students and families for helping us achieve a  91% attendance rate for the 1st quarter!  Let’s continue this momentum into the 2nd quarter.

Workkeys:

We will give the Workkeys Assessment to all qualifying 12th graders this Thursday, November 13th with a few groups Friday, November 14th.  Here are testing locations for Thursday and Friday.  12th graders, please check your email for more information from Mrs. Brantley.

Tardies:

Please help us to ensure that students are arriving to class on time.  Students have 5 minutes to move from one class to another during the day.  Students are considered tardy to class if they are not in the classroom when the bell rings.  Students who are late to class will miss valuable instruction.

New Morning Tardy Procedures:  The tardy bell rings at 8:45 and students are expected to be in their 1st period class.  At that time building doors will lock and any late students will need to report to the office to get a tardy pass.  In addition students must be in the breakfast line no later than 8:40 to receive breakfast.  If we have a late bus those students will be given a pass and allowed to go to breakfast.

EAgle Time:

All students have an EAgle time and receive a daily email from RTI scheduler that tells them where to report. Your Monday group is the same each week. The only exceptions to this are students at ACC, CTEC, or who have  Early Release. Those students have passes that they are expected to keep with them. Skipping EAgle time is the same as skipping a class and will result in ISS.

There will be no EAgle time on Thursday due to the Workkeys Assessment.

Parking Lot:

Students should not be in the parking lots for any reason unless they are leaving to go to ACC, CTEC or are leaving to go home (either with Early Release or they have been signed out in the front office).

Seniors:

It is never too early to purchase your cap and gown.  Use this link to go ahead and secure your cap and gown for the lowest price of the year.

Graduation Date is set:  June 5th at 7:00 pm at the Novant Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum

Student Name Update:

Does your child have a name that they go by that is different from what is listed innInfinite Campus? For example: student's name is Samantha but they go by Sami or student's name is John but they go by Jack. If so, you must complete this form.  Until this form is complete and has been approved, all staff at school are required to call them by the name listed in Infinite Campus.

9th graders:

Healthful Living Parental Consent/Health Screening Consent 2025-26:  Thank you for recently submitting the online Back to School Forms for your student.  Some forms were not available to you at the time of your submission.  Please complete these grade-specific form(s) below for your 9th-grade student.  *If you have previously submitted the consent form, you need not resubmit.

Parking Pass:

Any student parking on campus should have a valid parking pass displayed.  Please use this link to purchase a pass.  Students who park on campus without a pass are subject to having their car towed at the owner’s expense.  All other school fees/fines must be paid in order for you to be able to purchase a parking pass.

Cell Phones:
The majority of our student body is doing a great job with the ABSS Wireless Communication Device ProceduresAs a quick reminder, wireless devices should be placed away from students (in the cell phone holders) during instructional time.  We should not be able to see them on students (in pockets, in ears, etc.)  Thank you for your continued support with these new procedures.

Back To School Forms:

Parents, have you created your Infinite Campus Account?  If not, check your email.  More information about Infinite Campus as well as a link to download the app can be found here.

Chromebooks:

Students who do not have chromebooks yet, will be able to check them out during 1st and 2nd period tomorrow.. This year, we are offering families the opportunity to purchase optional insurance for their student(s) chromebook.  The cost of the optional insurance is $25.  This premium is good for one instance of unintentional breakage (lost or intentional damage is not covered) and will help protect you from higher cost.  You may elect when to apply your premium.  Once used, the family would have the option to replace the optional insurance premium for an additional $25.  For more details, including a list of part replacement costs, click here for the Mobile Learning Handbook.  You may use this link to purchase the optional insurance.
