Community Unites for Beautification Day at Eastlawn Global Elementary
Burlington, NC – May 10, 2024

Eastlawn Global Elementary School was a hub of activity and community spirit on Saturday, May 10, as families, students, staff, and local organizations came together for Beautification Day. The event, held from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, saw dozens of volunteers working side by side to enhance the school’s grounds through planting, gardening, painting, and general cleanup.

The initiative aimed to foster campus pride and create a more welcoming environment for students and staff. Volunteers included Roots and Wings—a group of four young men and their mentor—who brought energy and teamwork to the project. Sikeade Adetu from Restoration Church, Tara Williams from DSS, Shelby Graham and Margaret Wooten from St. Mark’s Community Church, and National Honor Society students from Cummings High School were among the many who lent their time and talents.

School parents joined in, working alongside three dedicated ladies from Burlington Masjid, further demonstrating the power of community collaboration. Together, the group planted flowers, mulched garden beds, painted playground equipment, and tidied up outdoor spaces.

Principal Smith Williams expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support: “Today’s turnout shows just how much our community cares about our students and their learning environment. We are incredibly thankful to everyone who gave their time and effort.”

The event not only improved the school’s appearance but also strengthened connections among families, students, and community partners. Organizers hope to make Beautification Day an annual tradition, continuing the spirit of cooperation and pride that was on full display.

As the morning wrapped up, Eastlawn Global Elementary stood a little brighter—thanks to the hard work and generosity of its community.
