Eastlawn Global Elementary Welcomes Mrs. Monique Holmes as New Assistant Principal
Eastlawn Global Elementary School is proud to welcome Mrs. Monique Holmes as its new Assistant Principal for the upcoming school year. With 18 years of experience in education, Mrs. Holmes brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to the Panther community.
Mrs. Holmes began her career in the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) in 2007 as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Walter M. Williams High School. Since then, she has served in four school districts—Alamance, Forsyth, Pennsville Township (NJ), and Orange Counties—earning a reputation for her commitment to student success and instructional excellence across diverse educational settings. She holds teaching licenses in both North Carolina and New Jersey.
In 2022, Mrs. Holmes was recognized as the NCCAT Orange County Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year, a reflection of her outstanding service and innovation in the CTE field. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Principal Intern at Grady Brown Elementary and River Park Elementary in Orange County Schools, where she led efforts in instructional collaboration, family engagement, and professional growth for staff.
A proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Mrs. Holmes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. She recently completed her Master of School Administration at North Carolina Central University, where she was honored as a North Carolina Principal Fellow.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Holmes is a dedicated wife and mother of two sons—one in elementary and one in middle school—whose experiences help shape her dual perspective as both a parent and educational leader.
“I am excited to be back in the Alamance-Burlington School System and proud to join the Eastlawn Global Elementary School and the Panther community,” said Mrs. Holmes. “I look forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to foster a culture of excellence, equity, and empowerment.”
