Eastlawn Global Elementary is proud to announce that Sarah Smith, Speech-Language Pathologist, has been selected as the ABSS Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence for 2025.

This prestigious recognition is awarded annually by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) to honor outstanding educators serving exceptional children across the state. Mrs. Smith will be recognized at the 74th Annual Conference on Exceptional Children, held at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro on November 20–21, 2025.


Mrs. Smith joined Eastlawn Global in 2018 and has since made a lasting impact on students, staff, and families. Known for her innovative approach to language development, she integrates educational games, hands-on activities, and collaborative learning to help students strengthen communication skills in joyful and meaningful ways. Her deep commitment to student growth and inclusive education exemplifies the spirit of Eastlawn’s mission—empowering every child to thrive locally and globally.

Mrs. Smith will represent Alamance-Burlington Schools at the state-level recognition, where educators from across North Carolina will be honored for their exceptional service and dedication.
