dare

Eastlawn Global Elementary proudly celebrated its 5th Grade DARE Graduation, marking an important milestone in our students’ journey toward responsible decision-making, leadership, and character development. The event was a powerful reflection of the impact of the DARE program and the strong partnerships that support our students each day.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by Officer Gonzalez, who reinforced the core values of the DARE program—respect, responsibility, and making positive choices. Students were actively engaged throughout the event, demonstrating both their understanding of the program’s principles and their readiness to apply them beyond the classroom.

We were honored to welcome Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education member Tameka Harvey, whose message deeply resonated with students. Ms. Harvey encouraged our Panthers to remain grounded in their faith, believe in themselves, and remember that their future is just beginning. She reminded students that they are greater than any circumstance they may face and that their choices today help shape the leaders they will become tomorrow. Her words were both inspiring and affirming, leaving a lasting impression on students and staff alike.

As part of the celebration, Eastlawn recognized four outstanding DARE finalists: Prince, Noel, Adriana, and Marta. Each student demonstrated exceptional leadership, strong character, and a commitment to the DARE principles. Noel was named the DARE Essay Winner, earning special recognition for thoughtful reflection and powerful expression of the program’s values. All finalists received gift bags, but more importantly, they were celebrated for modeling Panther Pride and positive leadership.

The DARE program is a key 5th grade initiative at Eastlawn Global, designed to equip students with lifelong skills that extend far beyond elementary school. This celebration served as both a culmination of their learning and a reminder that the lessons of DARE—decision-making, confidence, and integrity—will continue to guide them as they transition to middle school and beyond.

The DARE Graduation was truly remarkable to see, hear, and experience. Eastlawn Global is proud of our students, grateful for our community partners, and inspired by leaders like Officer Gonzalez and Board Member Tameka Harvey, whose impact on our students continues each and every day.
