Sewing a Quilt of Memories 🧵💕 Last month, we highlighted the Quilt & Sew Forth Club of Twin Lakes Community who have been coming to Eastlawn Elementary to share their quilts, the stories behind them, and to teach sewing skills to the students. While there, the fifth-grade students worked alongside them to create a special quilt, inspired by their recent reading of "The Patchwork Quilt" by Valerie Flournoy. Fourth-grade classes have also created quilt heart wall hangings for the Twin Lakes residents that are sure to bring many smiles! Cindy Farmer FOX 8 is producing a story about this, scheduled to air next Monday at 7:15 AM and Thursday at 5 PM. We'll post it on our page too! We're so proud of our students for being so patient, respectful, and eager to learn from our Twin Lakes #ABSSCommunity friends!

In honor of National AgDay the students at Eastlawn enjoyed learning more about agriculture through baby ducklings. Please meet our newest students at Eastlawn and as you can see they are eager to learn in the classroom. They even learned how to swim today! Other students enjoyed eating lettuce grown through hydroponics in Mrs. V's classroom. #AgDay24 #agliteracy

Jonathan Paylor, the talented Freshman running back from NC State University 🐺, returned to his ABSS roots this #ReadAcrossAmerica Week, bringing smiles and inspiration to students at his former elementary school, Eastlawn Elementary. Despite his impressive accolades - ranked No. 10 player at the RB position in the nation and No. 5 in North Carolina by 247Sports, and over 3,000 all-purpose yards at Cummings High - Paylor read to a class, signed autographs, and even good-naturedly accepted arm-wrestling challenges from the starstruck kids. 💪🏾 His actions send the powerful message that with hard work, perseverance, and a humble spirit, great heights can be achieved while still giving back to the community that shaped you. ABSS takes immense pride in Jonathan Paylor! Go Pack! 🐺

We're so proud of our talented Broadview Middle School students! They wrote and illustrated their very own books to read with the Eastlawn Elementary students this week. 📚 The Broadview students shared their one-of-a-kind creations with kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders, providing literacy support in the dual language classes as well. It was heartwarming to see these young authors set such wonderful learning examples for students at Eastlawn Elementary!
