Alamance-Burlington School System is the 15th-largest public school district in North Carolina serving nearly 23,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12th.  ABSS offers exceptional educational opportunities for students including career and technical education, international baccalaureate, pre-collegiate academies, early college, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).  Our elementary schools include programs such as Leader in Me, Capturing Kids Hearts, STEAM (STEM plus the Arts), and Global Learning.  Our vision is to prepare each student for their future in an inclusive, supportive learning community while engaging and empowering them to become knowledgeable, responsible citizens.

There are many career opportunities within ABSS. With 37 schools, there’s an opportunity for everyone to find their place. We are proud of the achievements we’ve made and the ambitions we have to continue improving public education. Although the work is big, no job is too small to make it count. Our roles may vary, but one thing is always the same – our shared passion to have a meaningful impact on the lives of our students in the community we serve. While our team members come from different backgrounds, we all came here for the same reasons and if you ask around, it’s also why we stay.

Vision: Each Alamance-Burlington School System student is prepared for their future in an inclusive, supportive learning community.

Mission:  Engage and empower every student to learn and become knowledgeable, responsible community members.

Teach in Alamance-Burlington School System

Great teachers come from backgrounds that bring different experiences and knowledge into classrooms to benefit students. Recognizing that beginning educators often face tremendous challenges at the start of their careers, Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) has designed a Beginning Teacher Program to support educators new to our team. By coupling our Beginning Teacher Support Program with the ongoing support provided by school-based and learning community leadership, ABSS works to ensure that beginning educators will gain accelerated success and effectiveness, as well as greater self-confidence during the first years of their new career.

Our goal is to recruit, retain, and support new teachers to the Alamance-Burlington School System to become effective instructional leaders within their classrooms and school community. In addition to providing district-level support, beginning teachers also receive individualized support from lead mentors and mentors at their schools.

Learn why Alamance County is a great place to live and work! We encourage you to view our open positions, submit an application and join our district. Search and apply for career opportunities today.

Alamance-Burlington Schools is currently recruiting teachers and staff for all 38 schools.  Both residency licenses and certified applications are being accepted.
